“The Hybrid Athlete” with Alex Viada

“We are proud to announce that Alex Viada from Complete Human Performance in Durham, North Carolina is coming to Revolution Personal Training.

Alex will be running his Hybrid Athlete Training course at RevoPT on the 9th and 10th of April 2016.

Alex Viada is an NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and USA Triathlon Coach, and is the founder and co-owner of Complete Human Performance. He has over thirteen years of coaching and personal training experience with athletes of all ages and levels; he specializes in training powerlifters, triathletes, strongman competitors, CrossFit competitors and military athletes.

An Introduction to Applied Hybrid Training Methodology: Understanding and Programming Concurrent Strength and Endurance Training

The course material is targeted towards both coaches and athletes, designed to give them the knowledge to train and function as a hybrid athlete.

This includes physiology, nutrition, biomechanics, special considerations (psychological and physical) of crossover athletes, and special attention paid to sports that are hybrid in nature.”

Day 1:
9:00am-9:30am – Introduction to Hybrid Training
9:30-10:30am – Cardiopulmonary and musculoskeletal adaptations: resistance training versus endurance/conditioning, essential principles of recovery
10:30am-10:45am – Break
10:45-12:00pm – Defining specific vs general work capacity
12:00-1:00pm – Lunch
1:00-2:15pm – Energy systems management and training
2:15-2:30pm – Break
2:30-3:30pm – Nutrition for the athlete, including game day nutrition, carb loading, and hydration
3:30-4:00pm – Supplementation for the multi-sport athlete
4:00-4:30pm – Q&A

Day 2:
9:00am-9:30am – Welcome back!
9:30-10:30am – Endurance training for the strength athlete
10:30am-10:45am – Break
10:45-12:00pm – Teaching the run, including gait analysis and injury prevention
12:00-1:00pm – Lunch
1:00-2:15pm – Strength training for the endurance athlete – biomechanics and psychological considerations
2:15-2:30pm – Break
2:30-3:30pm – Movement Analysis (stressor breakdown) and carryover
3:30-4:30pm – Sample Programming and Programming For Your Athletes
