An Inside Look at What it Really Takes to Prepare for a Bodybuilding Competition

Spend enough time on fitness blogs, and you’ll see pictures of bodybuilders, flexing in front of a crowd, covered in bronzer, showing off their lean, muscular physiques.

You envy them, at least a little. Maybe you don’t want to be on stage, but you do want to be lean, strong, and big, like them.

But like everything, bodybuilding has its pros and cons. Being extremely lean is cool in some ways, as in it gets you more attention on Instagram, but it comes at a cost.

In this podcast, you’ll learn what it’s really like to prepare for a bodybuilding competition from the eyes of a doctor — Spencer Nadolsky. Spencer has been on the podcast several times before to talk about weight loss and statins. He’s been lifting weights for over a decade, and prepared for his first bodybuilding competition in 2014.

Spencer explains the mental and physical changes he went through during his preparation. Even if you have no intention of preparing for a bodybuilding show, you’ll experience many of the same things cutting to low body fat levels. If you want to get really lean, you should listen to this episode to know what you’re getting into.
